You may love traveling, but even the busiest jet setter can easily become stressed by the airport. One airport in particular is working hard to make flying a little less rough with a little more ruff. LAX airport in Los Angeles, California has had some of the worst comments from travelers according to satisfaction surveys and was named the second-worst airport last year by Travel + Leisure magazine (Laguardia in New York was named the worst). The well-known hub has a plan to change that. Their goal is to keep passengers calm with a program called Pets Unstressing Passengers or PUP. So don’t be surprised to hear a friendly bark when you’re impatiently waiting and flipping through the latest US weekly. Certified dogs, along with dog walkers, will walk around the terminals greeting passengers. So far, 30 handlers have signed up, all volunteers, that will walk the dogs gate-to-gate for two hours. At any given time, you can find up to three friendly companions roaming around welcoming flyers. Airport officials are aiming to have one pet at each terminal. For those worrying about sanitary issue there are emergency doggy relief stations in four locations on site with patches of fake grass.  This program has been cleared by the Los Angeles Attorney’s office, and Therapy Dogs Inc. certifies each animal. Next time you fly LAX don’t forget the doggy treat. [dailybreeze.com]
